Karen, the whole point of the hearing is to make ABA a part of TRICARE basic so that it *IS* available to retirees.

Keep your chin up, that is what we are trying to get done, Mama!

I knew there had to be more than what I was reading. I figured it was hidden there somewhere. Unfortunately I don't see this having an impact for retirees who are using the civilain alternative to tricare. To get continuity of care for my son, I had to go with the civilian Tricare prime provider. They are great for continuity but crap for ABA. Ah such is life...one step forward, two steps back...

I know it seems small, but the Senate hearing was a HUGE step forward for our legislation to make it through on the Senate side. There had previously been no open doors for us to educate the Armed Services Committee on autism and ABA.

Onward and upward. Now we have the permanent record of testimony from American Academy of Pediatrics and Dr. Geri Dawson refuting the DoD’s position and calling for action. We have the legislation to pass in the Senate, but this hearing also set the stage for a push to make the change through DoD policy, not requiring legislation.

Be patient. We are moving a mountain!
